Digital Literacy Trainer / Library & C@Psite Attendant
Wage: $15.00/hr
Hours Per Week: 35/week
Term: June 19th to August 25th (start/end dates flexible based on employee’s availability)
The Wentworth Community C@P Site and Library provides service, support & enhancement to community members. The goal is to provide affordable public access & foster growth in the use of technology for the benefit of the community.
We are accepting applications for a youth to work at the C@Psite located within our facility. This position includes; reviewing and updating previously created training materials in order to ensure they are relevant, developing and delivering lessons, both group and one-on-one, based on needs identified in the community, determining what resources are needed for training, creating handouts and cheat sheets for tablets, laptops, mobile devices, software, etc. This position will be required to create an exit survey for one-on-one and group sessions to ensure numbers and types of learning are being tracked. This individual will work with traditionally marginalized groups, such as people with disabilities, immigrants and refugees, indigenous people, members of visible minorities, the homeless, children and youth, those with employment barriers, seniors, the LGBTQ community and girls and women to encourage STEM use and to provide support with the navigation of the many resources on the Internet that may help alleviate their plight and increase their interest in technology.
This position requires a self-sufficient individual who has outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills. Experience and knowledge of technology would be considered an asset for this position. The successful candidate must be a resident of Nova Scotia or have resided there for the previous 6 months. The youth must be between the ages of 15 and 30 (there is no requirement to be a student).
